The following pictures show a beautifully restored 1949
Century Resorter. The owner passionately pursued this project
from the beginning. A labor of love, if you will. My understanding
is the boat was purchased by or consigned to the "Antique
Boat Center" in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2004.
Purchase negotiations by the current owner included using
the boat as an instructional aid to teach restoration techniques
in a special class hosted by the Antique Boat Center last winter.
This was my first fortunate encounter with this boat. I and twelve
other enthusiast learned plank removal/replacement and refinishing
by rebuilding the entire transom along with other significant
wood fabrication.
I was indeed honored and humbled when the owner requested
if I could restore the interior. Much of the original seat framing
was usable. New woods were sealed before covering. The finished
boat is a real head turner! Please be sure to check out all the
examples of my work using the links at the top of each page.
Enjoy the pics!
